Pick of the Week
For the first Pick of the Week I’ve gone with the very first gemstone set I sold in my shop: Imperial Grimalkin (that name came later). After buying a Light Grey Cat’s Eye set for myself I began looking into this precious stone and discovered that there’s so many colors to choose from!
What I love about Cat’s Eye is that, if you hold it up to the light just right, you can actually sort of see through them. In the case of a dice set, the best die to use to see this effect is either the D6 or the D4. Right now my favorite Cat’s Eye set is Guardian Grimalkin, which has a striking blue color that ‘lights up’ when you hold it in sunlight. But this set will always have a place in my heart. ^^
CHOOSING DICE
Choosing the right dice might seem like a breeze. What’s my favourite colour, do I like inclusions (animals, coloured flakes, other cool things), do I want one colour, two colours, swirls, glitter? But even though that might seem simple, any Dice Goblin (a collector of dice) can tell you that it’s more than that!
While the look is important, how the dice feel is a big part of choosing the right set as well. Some people like the weight of solid metal dice, others swear by resin or acrylic dice. Even gemstone dice can be a favourite to roll (as long as you take proper precautions and use a good dice tray!). Some like their dice to feel as smooth as possible, others are big fans of sharp edge dice (resin dice with distinctly sharp edges), whereas other folks want their dice to reflect the character their playing, or simply want to have dice that look different.
Whatever your preference may be, my advice would be to start out simple and find a set that fits your budget and has a look that you like. Use them to see how they roll, how they feel, and go from there! The most important thing about choosing the right set is that YOU are happy with them, no matter what anyone else says or advises!
